CloudCanvas was founded in 2009 and introduced the first 100% browser-based HTML5 Image Creation Suite of web apps. Those apps garnered many industry awards and are still widely used today. Parts of its open-source code base has been refactored by other developers and has been used by thousands of users.

In 2011, CloudCanvas shifted its concentration to allow other developers to rapidly create secure, cross-browser web apps that are not bound by traditional website APIs. CloudCanvas graduated from the San Diego Founder Institute Class of 2010.
